folio is an independent art publication which operates as an exhibition space on paper, presenting the work of a number of artists per issue. We are interested in presenting three-dimensional, durational or otherwise dematerialised work on the flat page, and exploring its relationship to the screen.

We work with a different guest editor each time, opening up the magazine to work from other fields such as music, design, architecture and writing.

We select artists - by open submission or invitation - whose practices respond in some way to the printed format and are interested in participating in a collaborative editorial process.

folio is co-edited by Merve Kaptan and Charlie Coffey.

Special thanks to Gamze Aksoy from Aksoy Printing whose kind and generous support made folio issue zero and one possible; to Rodrigo Pinto for his help with promotion and distribution of issue zero and to Cem Kaptan for being our trusted delivery friend.

folio seeks to operate as an exhibition space on paper, presenting the work several artists per issue. The magazine is particularly keen to offer a platform for three-dimensional, time-based and de-materialised work to be realised on the flat page. In every issue, a new guest editor works to bring influences from other disciplines including music, architecture and writing.
